In short

A financial planning review meeting is the regular, usually annual, check-in between an advisor and a client to update the plan. What's inside

By the end of this meeting, the plan reflects the client's life and goals today, they understand how their money is doing against it, and every action has an owner and a date. The full agenda is drawn to scale above: every block has its own timer when you run it live.

How to run it

  1. 1Send a short questionnaire a week before about life changes and questions, and update the plan data before you meet.
  2. 2Start with the client's life and goals, then show the portfolio against those goals.
  3. 3Confirm the risk profile and record any changes for your compliance file.
  4. 4Check beneficiaries and estate documents every year; it's the step most often skipped.
  5. 5Send the summary as the review letter: what changed, the decisions and the action list.
