How to run it

  1. 1Put the QR code on screen as people take their seats, with the travel word cloud already open.
  2. 2Run the find-your-match polls, then give people two minutes to find someone who picked the same answer and introduce themselves.
  3. 3Use the speed networking steps at a break or a networking session. Ring a bell every three minutes.
  4. 4Open each breakout with the two session warm-up slides so speakers know who's in the room.

Questions people ask

What are good games for conferences?
Ones that make strangers talk quickly: find-your-match polls, speed networking, 'Ask me about' badges, common ground in groups of three, and two truths and a lie.
What are good icebreakers for conferences?
A word cloud of where people traveled from, a quick energy scale and a poll on their biggest challenge. Then ask people to find someone with the same answer.
How do you warm up a conference session?
Ask how familiar the room is with the topic and what question they want answered. The speaker sees the answers and adjusts the talk.
