How to run it

  1. 1Use it on the first or second day, after you've introduced yourself.
  2. 2Students join on their devices with the QR code. Ask for first names so you can match answers to faces later.
  3. 3Show the word clouds and polls to the whole class and pick out a few answers to talk about. Invite, don't force, students to explain.
  4. 4Save the results. The answers to the last two questions help you plan seating, groups and how you'll teach.

Questions people ask

What are good icebreaker questions for students?
Low-risk questions everyone can answer: morning person or night owl, a favorite book or game, the best season, what helps you when something is hard. Save more personal questions for later in the year.
What are fun icebreaker games for students?
Would you rather, find someone who gave the same answer, word clouds that the class guesses about, and quick polls on field trips or superpowers.
How do icebreakers help in the classroom?
They help students learn names, find things in common and feel safe speaking up. Teachers learn how students like to learn and what they're interested in.
