How to run it

  1. 1Use it in a new team's first meeting or in the week a new hire starts. Do all three parts, or one part per meeting.
  2. 2Present it and let everyone answer on their phones, including the manager.
  3. 3On the open questions, read every answer aloud if the group is small. In a bigger group, read five and ask follow-ups.
  4. 4Part 2 is the useful bit: write down how each person likes to be contacted and given feedback, and share it after.

What are good get to know you questions for coworkers?
Mix light questions (home town, weekend plans) with practical ones about working together: how to reach each other, how each person likes feedback, and what they'd want a new colleague to know.
What should you ask new employees in their first week?
What they did before and what they brought with them, how they like to work and get feedback, and what they're looking forward to. Keep personal questions optional.
How do you turn get to know you questions into a game?
Ask a question, let everyone answer on their phones, then have the room guess who wrote a few of the answers before the author owns up.
