Cutting order-to-delivery time by a third

Findings and recommendations · Steering committee readout

Title

In short

A consulting presentation states the recommendation first, then proves it with the situation, evidence and options, and ends with the decisions the client needs to make. This 15-slide template follows that answer-first structure and adds a conviction scale, a stance poll and an open question to test buy-in live.

What's inside

  1. 1Cutting order-to-delivery time by a third
  2. 2We recommend moving to two regional warehouses and daily carrier pickups. We expect delivery times to fall by about a third within two quarters.
  3. 3How we got there
  4. 4Situation and complication
  5. 5Where the days go (sample, average days)
  6. 6Three reasons it works
  7. 7How convinced are you by the case so far? live
  8. 8Options we tested
  9. 9Implementation plan
  10. 10Risks and how we'll manage them
  11. 11Expected impact (sample)
  12. 12Decisions we need today
  13. 13Where do you stand on phase one?Ready to approve · Approve with changes · Need more analysis live
  14. 14What question haven't we answered yet? live
  15. 15Decisions, owners, dates

How to run it

  1. 1Write your recommendation as one sentence first. If it doesn't fit on the second slide, it isn't ready.
  2. 2Replace the sample case (a delivery-time project) with your findings. Keep the order: answer, situation, evidence, options, plan, decisions.
  3. 3Use the conviction scale after the evidence. A low score tells you which argument to revisit before you ask for a decision.
  4. 4End on the decisions slide and the stance poll, and agree owners and dates before anyone leaves.

Questions people ask

How do consultants structure a presentation?
Answer first. Lead with the recommendation, then give the three or so arguments that support it, each backed by data. This is often called the Pyramid Principle.
What makes a good consulting slide?
One message per slide, written as a full sentence in the title, with a chart or table that proves it. A reader should get the story from the titles alone.
What should a consultant presentation end with?
The decisions you need, who owns each one and by when. Close with what happens next, not a thank-you slide.
