What's inside

By the end of this meeting, the episode is recorded with every segment, the ad read and the call to action, and the editor knows where the best clips are. The full agenda is drawn to scale above: every block has its own timer when you run it live.

How to run it

  1. 1Fill in the segment questions in the notes before the guest arrives, and share the outline with them a few days ahead.
  2. 2Run the timers on a phone or tablet beside the mic so every segment lands on time without watching a clock.
  3. 3Collect listener questions from your community before recording.
  4. 4Use the summary to brief your editor on the best moments, pickups and show notes.

Questions people ask

How do you outline a podcast episode?
List the segments in order with a time for each: intro, guest introduction, two or three main segments with your key questions, ad reads, a closing round and the call to action.
Should you script a podcast?
Most interview shows script only the intro, ad reads and outro, and use an outline of questions for the conversation so it sounds natural.
What goes in a podcast episode template?
The episode title and guest, a tech checklist, the timed segments and questions, ad reads, the call to action and notes for the editor.
