In short

A classroom morning meeting is a 20 to 30 minute routine with four parts: a greeting, sharing, a group activity and a morning message. This agenda times each part, adds a quick check-in students can answer on a tablet and lets the class vote on the activity.

What's inside

By the end of this meeting, every student has been greeted by name, heard and ready for the day. The full agenda is drawn to scale above: every block has its own timer when you run it live.

How to run it

  1. 1Meet in a circle at the same time every day so it becomes a habit.
  2. 2Greet every student by name, and keep sharing to two or three students a day.
  3. 3Let the class vote on the activity from a tablet or by hands. Keep it under five minutes.
  4. 4End with the morning message so the meeting leads into the day's learning.

Questions people ask

What are the four parts of a morning meeting?
Greeting, sharing, group activity and morning message, in that order.
How long should a morning meeting be?
