Leadership team activities

Trust first. Then better decisions.

Title

In short

Leadership team building activities are structured exercises that help senior teams build trust and make better decisions together. This free pack has four: personal histories, contribution and growth feedback, a pre-mortem and a one-way or two-way door decision exercise, each with debrief questions the team answers anonymously on phones.

  19. 19Trust, then decide

How to run it

  1. 1Use it at a leadership offsite or a long leadership meeting. Run one exercise as a 20-minute opener, or all four across a half day.
  2. 2Answers are anonymous unless you ask for names, so the trust check and the debriefs get honest answers.
  3. 3The facilitator, not the CEO, should run it, so the leader can take part as a team member.
  4. 4Close with the commitment question and record each person's commitment in the meeting summary.

Questions people ask

What are good leadership team building activities?
Exercises that build trust and practice decisions: sharing personal histories, giving each other contribution and growth feedback, running a pre-mortem on a top priority, and sorting decisions into reversible and irreversible.
What are good leadership icebreakers?
A one-word mood check and an anonymous trust scale. They take two minutes and show the facilitator where the real conversation is.
How do you run a leadership offsite?
Start with trust, then work on how the team decides, then agree priorities. Have someone other than the CEO facilitate, and end with individual commitments you review in 30 days.
