Leadership retreat

Three questions. Real decisions. One team.

Title

This kit plans one day around three pre-read questions, with an anonymous team-health vote, a big-bets board, two deep dives, an alignment vote and a decision log with owners and dates.

First check-in on these decisions:

How to run it

  1. 1Send a short pre-read a week ahead that frames three questions the retreat must answer. Put them on the second slide.
  2. 2Hold it away from the office. Open with the anonymous team-health vote and talk about what it shows before any strategy.
  3. 3Use the big-bets board to sort ideas by impact and effort, then spend the afternoon on two deep dives.
  4. 4Log every decision with an owner and a date, then run the alignment vote. Agendiq's summary keeps the log.
  5. 5Agree how and when you'll tell the company before anyone leaves, and send the decision log the same night.

Questions people ask

What should a leadership retreat agenda include?
Time on how the team works together, the strategic questions from a pre-read, deep dives that end in decisions, a decision log with owners, and an agreement on how to tell the rest of the company.
What are good leadership retreat ideas?
An anonymous team-health vote, a pre-mortem on next year's plan, an impact and effort board for big bets, and a 'what has nobody said yet?' question. Keep decisions as the point of the day.
How is a board retreat different?
A board retreat brings directors together, often with the CEO, to work on governance, the board's own effectiveness and long-term strategy, rather than running the business.
