How to run it

  1. 1Present on the biggest screen you have. Residents can vote on phones or tablets, or call out answers while a helper taps them in.
  2. 2Start with the easy round. If the room is flying, skip ahead to the harder round; if not, linger and chat about each saying.
  3. 3Use the stretch break whatever the mood. Everyone moves only as much as feels comfortable, seated is fine.
  4. 4The memory prompts are the heart of it. Read answers aloud and invite one or two people to tell the story behind theirs.
  5. 5For memory care groups, use the easy round and the would you rather questions, and keep the pace slow and warm.

Questions people ask

What are good group games for nursing home residents?
Familiar, sociable games: finish the saying, would you rather, simple trivia and memory prompts that invite stories. Big text, a slow pace and no pressure to answer matter most.
What activities work for memory care?
Simple choices and familiar sayings work well, along with music and reminiscence prompts. Keep the pace slow, offer two options rather than four, and celebrate every answer.
How do you make games easier or harder for seniors?
Start with the easy round and watch the room. If people answer quickly, move to the harder round; if not, stay and chat about each answer.
