How to run it

  1. 1Run it in an all-hands or team meeting during appreciation week, or on Employee Appreciation Day.
  2. 2Give the kudos questions a full two minutes. Read a good handful of answers aloud, names included.
  3. 3For the awards, the biggest name in each word cloud wins. Have small prizes or certificates ready.
  4. 4Check that nobody is left out: if someone's name hasn't come up, the manager adds a shout-out of their own.
  5. 5Use the vote on appreciation ideas to plan the next quarter, and send the kudos to everyone in the summary.

Questions people ask

What are good employee appreciation ideas?
Specific, regular thanks works best: a weekly kudos round, handwritten notes, peer-nominated awards, time back after a big push, a learning budget and a wins wall.
What should you do for employee appreciation week?
Run a shout-out session where everyone thanks someone by name, hold peer-voted awards, and launch one appreciation habit that continues after the week ends.
How do you give a good shout-out?
Name the person, say exactly what they did, and say what difference it made. Specific thanks lands far better than 'great job, everyone'.
