In short

A memory board is one of the warmest retirement and farewell party ideas: everyone leaves a memory, a lesson they learned or a wish for what's next, and the best are read aloud. This template gives you the board, phone input that works for remote colleagues, a one-word check-in and a 45-minute send-off plan with speeches.

How to run it

  1. 1Share the join link a few days ahead so remote colleagues and former teammates can add messages too.
  2. 2Open with the one-word check-in; the word cloud makes a lovely opening slide.
  3. 3Read a handful of messages aloud, then hand over to the speeches.
  4. 4Send the guest of honor the summary afterwards so they keep every message.

Questions people ask

What are good retirement party ideas for the office?
A memory board everyone adds to, a word cloud of what the person means to the team, a few short speeches and a gift linked to their plans. Invite former colleagues; they often have the best stories.
How long should a retirement speech be?
Two or three minutes for colleagues and managers. One specific story says more than a list of achievements.
What do you say in a farewell speech?
Thank people by name for something specific, share one memory, say what you'll take with you, and wish the team well. Keep it short and warm.
