In short

A go-live readiness meeting, or go/no-go meeting, decides whether a system launch goes ahead as planned. This 60-minute agenda walks the go-live checklist, including testing, data migration, the cutover plan and rollback, support and training, then takes an anonymous readiness poll and each lead's call before the sponsor decides.

What's inside

By the end of this meeting, the sponsor decides go, go with conditions, or no-go, based on a checked readiness list and each lead's call. The full agenda is drawn to scale above: every block has its own timer when you run it live.

How to run it

  1. 1Agree the go/no-go criteria at least a week before, and circulate the readiness checklist with evidence for each item.
  2. 2Walk the checklist in order; any item that fails a criterion is raised before the poll, not after.
  3. 3Take the anonymous readiness poll, then ask each lead for their call out loud.
  4. 4Record the decision and conditions in the summary and send it to everyone on the cutover plan.

Questions people ask

What is a cutover plan?
The step-by-step, hour-by-hour plan for moving from the old system to the new one: tasks, owners, timings, checkpoints, the point of no return and the rollback steps.
What should be on a go-live checklist?
Testing sign-off and open defects, data migration results, the cutover and rollback plans, support and hypercare cover, training, communications and sign-off from each business area.
Who decides in a go/no-go meeting?
The project sponsor, based on criteria agreed beforehand and a call from each workstream lead.
