How to run it

  1. 1Fill in the slides with your timetable, units, homework policy and contact details.
  2. 2Put the QR code on screen as families arrive. Signing in gives you an attendance list without a clipboard.
  3. 3Present for about 15 minutes. Families send questions to the wall as you talk and dot the ones they want answered.
  4. 4Answer the top questions live, take the volunteer vote, and answer the rest in the follow-up email.

Questions people ask

What happens at back to school night?
Families visit their child's classroom, meet the teacher and hear about the daily routine, what will be taught, homework, grading and how to stay in touch. Most sessions last 20 to 40 minutes.
What should teachers present at meet the teacher night?
A short introduction to yourself, a day in the class, the year's learning, homework and grading, and how to reach you. Leave time for questions and a volunteer sign-up.
What's the difference between curriculum night and meet the teacher?
Meet the teacher is often an informal visit before school starts. Curriculum night happens in the first weeks and focuses on what children will learn. Many schools combine them into one back to school night.
