How to run it

  1. 1Copy the parent question list into your conference reminder email so families can come prepared.
  2. 2At the start of the conference, the parent scans the QR code and answers the five check-in questions on their phone. It takes two minutes.
  3. 3Start with what the parent most wants to discuss, then share strengths before concerns.
  4. 4End on the next steps slide: one thing school will do, one thing home will do, and how you'll stay in touch.

What questions should parents ask at a parent teacher conference?
How your child is doing against grade expectations, their strengths, where they need support and the plan for it, how they get along with others, and what you can do at home.
What questions should teachers ask parents?
What the child says about school, what they love outside school, what helps when they're frustrated, the family's hopes for the year and how they prefer to be contacted.
How long is a parent teacher conference?
Usually 10 to 20 minutes. Agree the topics at the start and finish with written next steps for school and home.
