How to run it

  1. 1Invite a lender to cover the money section, and add your state's first-time buyer programs to the 'Help that's often missed' slide.
  2. 2Turn on 'Ask for name' and make 'Ask for email' optional, so interested attendees can leave contact details when they join.
  3. 3Use the opening poll to decide where to spend time, and keep the live Q&A long. It's what attendees value most.
  4. 4Avoid quoting interest rates or promising approvals. Point people to their own Loan Estimate.
  5. 5Send the follow-up to everyone, and contact only those who asked for a consultation.

Questions people ask

What is covered in a first time home buyer seminar?
The steps from budget to closing, pre-approval, down payment options and loan types, closing costs, making an offer, inspection and appraisal, and local help such as down payment assistance.
How do you host a home buyer seminar?
Pair an agent with a lender, keep the slides short, and leave a long Q&A. Anonymous questions from phones help first-time buyers ask what they're unsure about.
What should a first time home buyer presentation include?
A clear step-by-step path, what each stage costs, the documents buyers will see (such as the Loan Estimate and Closing Disclosure), and where to get free help.
