What's inside

By the end of this meeting, every member has made a specific referral ask, referrals have been passed and logged, and one-to-ones are booked for the week. The full agenda is drawn to scale above: every block has its own timer when you run it live.

How to run it

  1. 1Meet at the same time every week, usually early morning before the working day.
  2. 2Coach members to end every 60-second presentation with one specific ask, not a general one.
  3. 3Keep the timekeeper strict: 60 seconds is the point of the format, and it keeps 20 or more members inside 30 minutes.
  4. 4Log referrals during the meeting so the summary shows who passed what to whom.
  5. 5Close by booking one-to-ones; the weekly meeting opens doors, one-to-ones build trust.

Questions people ask

What happens at a BNI meeting?
Open networking, a welcome, a short education slot, each member's weekly presentation, a longer feature presentation by one member, visitor introductions and referral passing. Chapters meet weekly.
What should I say in a 60-second BNI presentation?
Your name and business, one short example of work you've done, and one specific ask, such as an introduction to a named company or a person in a certain role. Specific asks get referrals; general ones don't.
Does this work for a networking group that isn't BNI?
Yes. Any referral or leads group can use it. Change the presentation length and the order to match your group's rules.
