In short

A meeting agenda template is a reusable outline of a meeting: its goal, the items in order, who leads each one and how long each takes. This 30-minute template adds an outcome line, inform, discuss and decide items with owners and times, a parking lot and actions, and opens straight into a live timer.

What's inside

By the end of this meeting, we have made the decisions on this agenda, agreed actions with owners and parked everything else for later. The full agenda is drawn to scale above: every block has its own timer when you run it live.

How to run it

  1. 1Write the goal line first, then add only the items that serve it.
  2. 2Give every item an owner, a time and a type (inform, discuss or decide), and phrase discussion items as questions.
  3. 3Send the agenda at least a day before so people come prepared.
  4. 4Run it with the timer on screen. When an item runs over, decide together whether to extend it or park it.
  5. 5Close with actions, owners and dates; the summary sends them to everyone.

Questions people ask

How do you write a meeting agenda?
Start with the outcome you want, then list the items that get you there. Give each an owner, a time and a type (inform, discuss or decide), phrase discussion items as questions, and send it a day ahead.
What are agenda items?
The individual topics on an agenda. Good agenda items say what the group should do with them, such as decide which supplier to use, rather than naming a subject.
What should a meeting agenda include?
The meeting's purpose, the date and time, the items in order with owners and times, what attendees should prepare, and time at the end for actions and next steps.
