In short

A union meeting, or general membership meeting, is where a local's members hear reports from officers and committees and act on union business. This 90-minute agenda follows the traditional order, from minutes and reports to unfinished and new business and good and welfare, and adds an anonymous member pulse vote on phones.

What's inside

By the end of this meeting, members hear the officers' and committees' reports, act on the business in front of them and say what matters most to them. The full agenda is drawn to scale above: every block has its own timer when you run it live.

How to run it

  1. 1Post the meeting notice and agenda where members will see it, with the join QR code for the pulse vote.
  2. 2Keep reports short and printed where possible, so most of the time goes to members' business.
  3. 3Use the anonymous member pulse to hear from members who won't speak up at the mic.
  4. 4Take official votes as your constitution requires, and use the summary as the base for the recording secretary's minutes.

What should union meeting minutes include?
