How to run it

  1. 1Use one check-in per meeting, not the whole pack. Open the slide grid and jump to the one you want.
  2. 2Work through the pack from top to bottom across meetings so the team never gets the same question twice in a row.
  3. 3One-word and scale check-ins take two minutes. Short-answer ones take five, so save them for smaller groups.
  4. 4If someone's answer suggests they're struggling, follow up privately after the meeting, not in front of the group.

Questions people ask

What are good check in questions for team meetings?
Quick ones everyone can answer honestly: one word for how you're arriving, how full your battery is, or a win since the last meeting. Rotate them so they don't get stale.
How long should a meeting check-in take?
Two minutes for a one-word or scale check-in, five for a short-answer one. Any longer and it eats into the agenda.
How do you run a group check-in with a big team?
Use a word cloud or a scale. Everyone answers at once on their phone and you read the pattern, instead of going around the room one by one.
