In short

A construction daily report records each day on site: weather, manpower, work done, deliveries, inspections, delays and safety. This kit fills it from a ten-minute morning huddle: trades check in for the headcount and post notes to a four-column board, and the report skeleton comes out in the follow-up email.

How to run it

  1. 1Hold it at the same time and place every morning, standing up. Ten minutes, never more.
  2. 2Everyone scans the code to check in. The check-in gives you the manpower count by company and trade.
  3. 3Foremen post their work, delays, deliveries and safety notes to the board from their phones while the super runs through the plan.
  4. 4Take the blocker vote, give each blocker one owner and a time, and solve it after the huddle.
  5. 5Copy the board into the daily report in the follow-up email, add weather and photos, and send it before the end of the day.

Questions people ask

What should a construction daily report include?
Date, weather, manpower by company and trade, equipment, work performed by area, deliveries, inspections, visitors, delays and their causes, safety events, and photos.
Who fills out the construction daily log?
Usually the superintendent or site foreman, with input from each trade's foreman. A morning huddle is the easiest place to collect that input.
Why does the daily log matter?
It's the day-by-day record of what happened on site. When there's a dispute about delays, extra work or payment, the daily reports are often the first thing people check.
How long should a daily huddle be?
Five to ten minutes, standing. Anything that needs longer gets an owner and is handled after the huddle.
