What's inside

By the end of this meeting, members have welcomed guests, signed up for the next service projects and heard the speaker, and the meeting finished on time. The full agenda is drawn to scale above: every block has its own timer when you run it live.

How to run it

  1. 1Start and finish on time. Members plan lunch meetings around their working day.
  2. 2Brief the Sergeant-at-Arms or Tail Twister to keep fines fun and fast.
  3. 3Put service projects before the speaker so volunteer asks don't get lost at the end.
  4. 4Let members send speaker questions from their phones during the talk, and read the best ones in Q&A.
  5. 5Send the summary to members with the project sign-ups and next week's speaker.

Questions people ask

What is the Four-Way Test?
Rotary's ethical test, often recited at meetings: Of the things we think, say or do: Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build goodwill and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
What is a Tail Twister in a Lions club?
The officer who keeps meetings lively, collecting small fines from members in good fun. The money usually goes to the club's charitable funds.
