What's inside

By the end of this meeting, the meeting runs in the group's usual order, newcomers feel welcome and everyone who wants to share gets the time to. The full agenda is drawn to scale above: every block has its own timer when you run it live.

How to run it

  1. 1Use the agenda as the chair's script, with the group's own readings and opening and closing words in the notes.
  2. 2Members can join with a first name or an initial. Don't record shares in notes or the summary; the timer is there to keep things fair.
  3. 3Restart the share timer for each person so everyone who wants to share gets a turn.
  4. 4Change the order to match your group conscience. This template isn't affiliated with or endorsed by AA or NA.

Questions people ask

What is the format of an AA meeting?
Most follow the same order: an opening and moment of silence, readings, welcome to newcomers, announcements and the Seventh Tradition collection, a topic or speaker, shares and a closing. Each group sets its own format by group conscience.
What are good AA meeting topics?
Acceptance, gratitude, fear, resentment, honesty, one day at a time, service, the steps and the traditions are among the most used.
How is an NA meeting format different?
The order is very similar. NA groups use NA's own readings, and the language refers to addiction rather than alcohol.
