In short

How to run it

  1. 1Open the slide for this month. The speaker notes hold a 5-minute script you can read or put into your own words.
  2. 2Walk the site first and find one real example of the month's hazard to point at.
  3. 3Run the phone check after the script, and talk through any answer more than a quarter of the crew got wrong.
  4. 4Close with the open question and add what comes back to your site's action list.

Questions people ask

What should be covered in a construction safety meeting?
One hazard the crew faces now, the controls for it, a real example from your site and a quick check that people understood. End with one action and who owns it.
What are the most important safety topics for construction workers?
Falls, struck-by hazards, electrocution and caught-in or caught-between hazards, which OSHA calls the Fatal Four. Trenching, silica, heat and ladders follow close behind.
How often should construction safety meetings be held?
Many sites hold a short toolbox talk every week and a longer site safety meeting every month. Use this pack for the monthly one.
