Title

In short

How to run it

  1. 1Pick this week's topic from the calendar slides. Swap a topic when something on site makes another one more urgent, like a near miss.
  2. 2Give the talk on site, standing, in 5 minutes. Use the five-step format: hazard, story, controls, check, commit.
  3. 3The crew scans the QR code and answers the check questions on their phones, so you see straight away who missed the point.
  4. 4Ask joiners for their name if you want answers tied to people, and keep your signed attendance sheet as your training record.
  5. 5End on the open question about hazards seen this week and fix what comes up before the next talk.

Questions people ask

What are good toolbox talk topics?
Talk about the hazards your crew faces this week: falls, ladders, trenching, struck-by and caught-between hazards, electrical safety, heat and cold, silica and housekeeping. Change the topic when a near miss or new task makes another one more urgent.
How long should a toolbox talk be?
Five to fifteen minutes. Keep it to one hazard, tell a real story and leave time for the crew to ask questions.
Does OSHA require toolbox talks?
OSHA doesn't require a weekly toolbox talk by name, but its construction standards require employers to train workers to recognize and avoid hazards. Regular talks with signed attendance are a common way to show that training happens.
Can I get these toolbox talks free?
Yes. This pack is on the Free plan. Run it as often as you like and edit the topics to match your site.
