Riverside Library: schematic design review

Design review with the client team · Your feedback, live from your phone

Title

In short

An architecture presentation walks a client through a design at a given stage: the brief, the site, the concept and the options, and the decisions needed to move on. This 15-slide template does that for a design review and collects feedback live through polls, a scale and an open question.

How to run it

  1. 1Replace the sample project (a riverside library) with yours. Keep your drawings and renders in your usual tool and show them alongside, or describe them on the slides.
  2. 2Start with where the project sits in the design phases, so the client knows what level of detail to comment on.
  3. 3Use the entrance poll and the brief scale to hear from everyone, including the quieter stakeholders who usually email you afterwards.
  4. 4Close with the open question and the sign-offs you need. The answers stay with the deck as your record of the review.

Questions people ask

How do you present an architecture project to a client?
Start with the brief and the site, explain the big idea in one sentence, then show how each decision follows from it. Be clear which decisions you need from the client today.
What should an architecture presentation include?
The phase you're in, what the client asked for, site analysis, the concept, options with trade-offs, materials, areas against the brief and next steps.
How do you get useful feedback in a design review?
Ask specific questions about specific choices, such as which of two entrances, and let everyone answer at once so the loudest voice doesn't decide.
